FALCAOCapoeira InstructorKnown in the Capoeira circle as Falcao, Kirk McFarlane has been practicing the art of Capoeira since 1998. A Brazilian form of martial arts, Capoeira combines street fighting technique with the rhythms of Brazilian dance and music to create a beautiful, non-contact, choreographed sport. Falcao’s passion for this beautiful form of physical expression is apparent in his energetic teaching style and dedication to fluidity of movement. Well-known within the community, Falcao has provided numerous demonstrations at venues including: The University of Toronto, Breakfast Television, Toronto Winterfest, The Portuguese Parade, Canada Day celebrations at Queen’s Park, the Harbourfront Jazz Festival, and many other cultural events. It is his knowledge of the history of Capoeira and agile manipulation of the musical instruments that are essential to the art form that have qualified Falcao as an advanced Capoeira student and skilled instructor. Capoeira is suitable for interested students of all physical abilities, making each class more exciting and challenging. Falcao takes a particular interest in each of his students and works with them to assist them in achieving their personal goals within the art. Falcao’s greatest reward is the opportunity to meet people of varied backgrounds and introducing them to the art he cherishes. |
