After suffering from postpartum depression and ballooning to 180 lbs, I found myself buying a pair of size 14 in a clothing store for large women. It was just before my son’s 3 rd birthday.

I knew something had to change or things were going to get worse. I couldn’t fight this battle alone anymore. I needed to find someone who could help me make positive changes in my life. Someone who could believe in me – because at the time, I didn’t even believe in myself.

That’s when I met Dimitri. His goal was to push me to be the best that I could be. My goal was to drop 10 sizes – to a size 4 – for my son’s 4 th birthday.

After 7 months of working hard and Dimitri’s continuous commitment to my success, I was strong mentally, physically and down to my size 4.

I won’t lie and say that it was easy, because it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. However, with the exception of my wonderful son, it was the most rewarding experience of my life so far.

Before I met Dimitri, I thought that personal training was overrated and too expensive. But for those thinking you can’t afford personal training, I’ll tell you this: you can’t afford not to do it if you really want results.

Training with Dimitri has been a life-altering experience. The day I met Dimitri I found a friend for life.

Just over a year ago, nearing my 50th birthday, I started to realize that if I didn’t get serious about my health, I might not enjoy the years to come as much as I would like.

So I joined a gym, signed up for personal training and was fortunate enough to meet Dimitri Giankoulas, who guided me through nutrition counselling which has changed my life!

My intention was to get fit and feel better. I never thought of myself as overweight, nor did my friends and co-workers. But after I lost 35 lbs. I realized that I was carrying a lot of unnecessary baggage. I am barely 5’1″ and 35 lbs represented 25% of my total weight!

I went from 37% body fat to a lean 22.5%, from a size 12 to a size 2 and I feel and look amazing! I have more energy than I did in my 20′s and have been told I look 15 years younger. I walk taller, present myself with more confidence and know now that I can do just about anything I desire.

Dimitri showed me that even though I was eating healthy, I was eating the right foods at the wrong times of day. Here’s the best…. I was able to eat more than I did before, and lose weight and over a year later, maintain the weight and the “feel good” lifestyle. Anyone who hasn’t undergone a personal transformation like I did can’t really understand how incredible the experience can be.

While attending one of Dimitri’s group nutrition sessions, listening to all the naysayers and complainers, I stood up and made the following comment. “If all of you knew how to lose weight by yourself, you would not be here in the first place. Pay attention and make yourself a slave to the information being given to you, live by it word for word and watch the results. You will be amazed what a professional can do for you. I am living proof!

I was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and moved to Canada when I was seven. I started to play tennis at the age of 12, and since then I have been competing in the Ontario Tennis Association in the under 18 category. I have won numerous Provincial tournaments and am currently ranked top 5 in Ontario. I have competed and won many provincial junior level tournaments for the following clubs: Greenhill’s, Davisville junior open, Bramalea Jr. Summerfest Open, York University Open, Merchant of Tennis Junior Championship #1, and Mayfair West U18. Tennis is my life!

Although I have had extensive training from all my tennis coaches and have over 10 years of competitive experience, this year, I was looking to improve my power, and become a stronger athlete. This is when I met Pure Motivation Fitness.

I was introduced to Dimitri and his trainers through my brother and wanted to know they could help me put on some weight which to me was the impossible. Believe me I could out eat a family of 4 and still not gain any weight. Dimitri and his trainers explained that its not always how often you train- its how you train, what you do, and what your eating that makes the difference. The trainers at Pure Motivation Fitness were very professional, educated and take their work seriously. They pushed me beyond my limits, taught me about variables like leaning how to train and eat for my genetic body type, and how to constantly shock my body through their dynamic training philosophies.

With their help I gained 15lbs in only 8weeks! I gained 3.5 inches on my chest, 2.5 on my thighs and 2inches on my arms. I increased my bench press and squat by 80lbs and look leaner and more muscular. My coaches have noticed that my speed, agility and endurance have also increased. PMF’s core training is unreal!!!

Since 2001 I have been a member of several different fitness clubs. My goal was always to lose weight and gain muscle; however I was never told how to properly go about doing it. My body weight in November of 2004 went up to 205 lbs.; this was very discouraging for me. I had been regularly going to the gym, however instead of losing weight in a matter of 6 months I gained 40 lbs.

Since getting personal training with Pure Motivation Fitness, I have lost a total of 62 lbs. and 16.6% body fat. First and foremost my diet was most important. Dimitri gave me a nutritional plan which I strictly followed. I did 45-60 minutes of cardio 6 or even 7 times a week, and weight training 4-5 times a week. It took a lot of hard work and determination but in a short 6 months I achieved excellent results.

I want to thank Dimitri and his staff for their unsurpassed guidance, knowledge in nutrition and non stop motivation. Pure Motivation Fitness provide a solution to my weight loss problem. Technical skill, education and motivation.

For me, these were the three ingredients I needed in order to lose 30lbs in 4 short months. My philosophy is: without my personal trainer (technical skill), in addition to the phenomenal nutritional counseling and cardio advice provided by Dimitri (education), along with a passion to succeed (motivation), I would never have been able to shed 30lbs.

For me, personal training was a must because it ensured that a) I didn’t injure myself while training and b) I made the most efficient use of my time at the gym, meaning results in a shorter period of time. Without the nutritional counseling Dimitri gave me, the personal training wouldn’t have been as productive, as I would not have known how to eat healthy to keep my body fit. Dimitri was always willing and able to answer any questions I had, and because of rest of his trained staff, I was able to achieve the results I aimed for, making me a more happy and healthy person.

You can take a look at my pictures and say “he’s in pretty good shape.” But…would you believe that at one time in my life I weighed 217 lbs with a 38” waist line?

I had been weight training for 3 years. But, until I started working with Pure Motivation Fitness, I never realized that I was just going through the motions and not accomplishing much of anything.

With Dimitri’s expert nutritional advice, I’ve learned that to get results from weight training, it’s critical to make eating and preparing your meals part of your daily routine. He once told me, “Richie, would you ever leave home for work and not shower, brush your teeth or comb your hair? No! So why do you not have any food prepared with you? You can’t just hope that clean nutritious food will somehow fall into your lap you have to make it, bring it, feel the need to plan for your entire day. Its really that simple”. Thats when I decided to try everything he told me to with no hesitations. And it worked.

“I honestly can say that with without the intense workouts by the trainers at Pure Motivation Fitness, and without their constant follow up phone calls, and motivational emails, I could not have achieved my ideal goal of weighing 149lbs, having a 28” waist line and 7.7% body fat”.

Originally, I thought that investing in personal training wasn’t worth it, and that I could probably read some books and do it on my own. But what I learned from PMF will stay with me for a lifetime.

I did it and so can you! I am 55 years old this year and decided it was now or never to lose weight and become fit. At over 200 pounds and with high blood pressure, I knew I wanted to be healthy to travel and enjoy my retirement years. I started dieting on my own but realized this was not enough as I also needed to firm up after all the years of inactivity. All it takes from you is commitment and the right choices when it comes to diet and exercise. If you are like me, you probably do not know how to get started. This is where Dimitri and his trainers steped in.

Dimitri is the director of Personal Training and Nutrition at Pure Motivation Fitness. Dimitri worked with me as my personal trainer for a couple of sessions so he could assess my needs and decide which trainers personality would best be suited to mine to take over as my personal trainer for the next 24 sessions.

I was introduced to Andrew and certainly over the weeks to come, I knew Dimitri had made an excellent choice. Dimitri did not, however, neglect my fitness goals. He sat down with me and personally discussed the best nutrition for me. We went through those food items that should be avoided and which foods are best at which meals. He made personalized daily meal plans (food regimen) taking into consideration my age, weight, exercise program and realistic weight loss. When necessary, this was reassessed. Pure Motivation Fitness was always encouraging and praised the little steps.

I trained under Andrew who is a great motivator. He is encouraging and patient. After the first month, I could not believe how the inches had dropped off and how much more energy I had. Andrew set up a personal program, which was revised monthly based on my level of fitness and the next set of goals we established. My personal training program was fun and exciting.

Thanks to Dimitri and Andrew and their professionalism in teaching me how to train the proper way, I am now continuing to workout on my own. Now that I am wearing a size 6 instead of 18 or 20, it is fun to shop because you can go to any store and wear the newest fashions. I have so much energy now and confidence in myself and how I look. I feel fantastic and so can you. The compliments never stop and that is enough motivation to keep you on the right path. Thanks to Pure Motivation Fitness I reached my goals. A number of years back I concluded that I had done all that I could do to shape my body, and that now that I was (at least then) in my mid thirties, I would never be able to achieve what I considered to be an ideal body shape.

I could regularly bench press in excess of 100% of my body weight, could run a distance of six miles uninterrupted, in 45 minutes or less, and exercised up to two hours, three times a week. Looking at my body though, you would never know.  The problem was that I was doing things, but I was doing them wrong. This is where Pure Motivation Fitness paid off.

Dimitri taught me that I didn’t have to starve to lose weight, and in fact today I eat better, and more, than I ever have (I regularly eat steak, salmon, and chicken many, many times a week).

Vladimir taught me how to exercise efficiently, and how to boost my gains in little to no time.

Today I am continuing with their

program on my own, and find it far easier than it has ever been

. What kind of results did I get in four months? I dropped almost 10% body fat, lost almost 5in. from my waist, lost almost 25lbs., and today I weigh what I weighed in undergraduate university (and am mere pounds from weighing what I did in high school).

After my training program I went to the Caribbean for a one week vacation, and stayed at an all inclusive resort.  I came home one and a half pounds lighter, and had lots to eat while on vacation – including desserts and alcohol.

Team Pure Motivation Fitness was an excellent experience and I highly recommend them to anyone who has lost hope of sculpting their ideal body.  This was a life-changing investment, and well worth it.

Mary and I would like to thank you and Vlad for the excellent advice and personal training that you provided.

At the beginning you gave us an evaluation and provided a nutrition plan that was really an informative way to start “eating clean” as you always say. This really put us on the right track and can be used for the rest of our lives. We were surprised at some of our normal food selections that were not really healthy.

During our training sessions, Vlad was very professional while always forcing us to reach our limits. It was amazing how many routines he put us through while never giving us the same workout twice. We enjoyed the variety of training principles and his constant effort to educate us. Vlad was always getting through the routines while being very personable and friendly. We looked forward to the training sessions.

You and Vlad were always available for questions regarding nutrition or exercises.

Your program really worked, like you said it would! My weight loss was 45 lbs and Mary lost 20 lbs.  The training sessions really helped our strength and flexibility while losing weight.

My name is Jess Silver and I am 18 years old. I was born with a physical disability known as Cerebral Palsy and my condition confines me to a wheelchair. Despite not being able to walk and having to face many challenges which arise on a daily basis because of my disability, I still manage to fight through the obstacles. Exercise has proven to be one ways of overcoming these obstacles.

Over the years I have tried countless types of physio therapy and rehab and have constantly strived to improve upon skills to help me achieve some confidence, strength and ability to be independent. After working with Vlad and Pure Motivation for almost a year, I am finding that I enjoy the workouts a lot more then any of the other types of physio or training I’ve ever done. It might because Vlad’s workouts are challenging and I like to face challenge but I also find it extremely enjoyable and motivating.

It’s a good feeling to be able to workout and feel like you can accomplish a lot even though you’re in a wheelchair. I feel a lot stronger thanks to the workout routines and way more confident in myself and more importantly my movements. I am now able to sit on a bench for a much longer period of time independently, and do exercises such as planks, squats and chin-ups with a much higher degree of ease.

Being motivated is extremely important for me and I now feel a lot more motivated!

I am writing to sincerely thank you for your assistance in getting my children on the right track and into shape. As you know, all three of my children were overweight when we first met you in late August. They had each decided that they wanted to look and feel better about themselves. I believe that having Renata come to the house two times a week to train them helped to jump start their weight loss and proved to them that they had to remain active if they wanted to feel better. However, I believe your nutritional guidance and constant support helped the most. When you sat down and talked to them (no parents allowed), you not only educated them on proper portion size and the reading of nutritional labels, more importantly, you empowered them to do this on their own.

After your nutritional consultation, my kids were very motivated to begin their new journey into healthy eating and exercise, and although I was happy, I didn’t think this would last more than a week or two. Well, six months later, this is one time I am happy to have been proved wrong. The kids have lost a total of approximately 70 lbs. between them. They look, and more importantly, feel great about themselves. They are constantly complimented on how amazing they look. (A bonus is that although I haven’t worked out myself since August, I have lost between twelve to fifteen pounds just by following their nutritional program!)

I would say that only one of countless and ritual late evenings while watching TV and over-indulging truly changed my life quickly like I never would have imagined. That was the day I met Dimitri (via digital cable) and I was thoroughly intrigued by the motivating health and fitness presentation he gave on the health segment of CityPulse 24, hence the name – Pure Motivation Fitness!

Prior to having my beautiful babies three years ago, I was an athletic individual and had not experienced weight gain issues. I was acutely aware of my love for sugar and negative food choices, however, maintaining a healthy diet was not an important issue for me as I knew my high metabolism would help me easily burn off excess calories, except for those hard target areas most of us women experience.

Post-babies, my weight gain over the last three years and two pregnancies had escalated due to the rigid and unforgiving schedules that babies demand and my personal time and motivation for anything, let alone exercise, quickly evaporated. It seemed as though I was awake around the clock and constantly hungry and fatigued! I was aware that the lack of exercise and motivation, spearheaded by my poor diet, was the root of my problem. I desperately needed help as my second and final maternity leave was ending and I was to return to work. I owed it to myself and had to confront the problem head on and immediately.

I had seen many late night fitness segments on television before and was always keen to tune into anyone’s weight loss tips in my desperate attempt to lose nearly 50 lbs. I had gained. Dimitri’s presentation left a positive and lasting impression with me. After hearing about PMF and the in-home training available, I knew that finding time to leave my home and my kids was the hardest thing as a mother returning to work so this had to be the best solution for me, despite the gym membership I had but didn’t use. I contemplated what I should do and I was a bit reluctant at first but the initial complimentary and non-obligatory consultation and training with Dimitri was hard to resist. What did have I have to lose besides 50 lbs.?! I eventually contacted him via e-mail soon after to see if he could give me the kick start I needed. My initial meeting face-to-face meeting with Dimitri was definitely the day that helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. He was very friendly, professional, sensitive and understanding of my needs. I was able to digest the invaluable nutritional and general health counselling and knowledge Dimitri passed on to me and it proved to be the cornerstone for my personal situation. Dimitri assured me he was available to me at any given time for one-on-one counselling via phone or e-mail and he proved to be true to his word throughout. Almost 6 months since starting my nutritional counselling with Dimitri and personal training in my home with Noland Clarke, I gradually and quickly lost nearly 50 lbs and gained my former fitness level and, most importantly, confidence in myself back. It felt amazing to be back to my pre-baby weight! To this day, colleagues, family and friends have jubilantly commented on my incredible weight loss in a short period of time. It was such a wonderful feeling to be noticed for my new figure because for the last few years that was the last thing I wanted. Guaranteed, this was truly the best investment in myself and a treat by putting my needs first for a change. I have absolutely no regrets except that I wish I had known about PMF after having my first child to put into practice the invaluable knowledge sooner than I did. More importantly if I ever fall off the horse again, I know exactly what I need to do to get myself back on it and ride away a champion Mom!

I would like to personally thank Dimitri and Zael from Pure Motivational Fitness who helped me achieve some fantastic fitness goals while I entered the Miss Universe Canada Preliminary Pageant GTA 2009.

I had a limited time frame to achieve my fitness results in the coarse of three weeks, I was put on a rigorous diet and work out program that achieved way more than I personally expected from myself. Not only did I loose 7% of my body fat in three weeks, but a dress size as well leaving my body nicely defined and toned.

I have learned a great deal about my body and health from the personal coaching sessions with Zael. He became a great mentor as well as a good friend in understanding my needs and wants in a fitness workout that I could also do by myself.

I thought my problem was genetics. I was naturally chubby so dieting was pointless. Then I convinced myself it was really a lack of time. I have a very busy work life and I simply didn’t have the hours to workout. Then I hit 30 years old and came to the conclusion that it was my age. You know, the old metabolism had slowed down. In hindsight, those excuses seem pretty ridiculous but I really believed them all. I had convinced myself that I wouldn’t be able to get in shape unless I could find an easy way; a secret magic pill that I could take to slim me down and give me great biceps.

A friend at work referred me to Pure Motivation fitness. He himself had formerly worked in fitness and was familiar with Dimitri’s reputation of being the best in the business. In my first meetings with PMF, I learned that there was no such thing as a magic supplement to melt off the pounds. What they did offer me, though, was a modern approach to training based on current research and best practices that allowed me to get to my goals efficiently. They developed a custom diet program — which actually INCREASED the amount of food I was eating — complimented with multiple weekly sessions of plyometrics, weight lifting, cardio and stretching.

In the first 3 months, I lost 40 pounds and went down from a size 42 pant to a size 36. My body took on shape and definition and suddenly I was getting compliments from all of my friends. Believe me, it felt great! Since then, I’ve dropped almost another 40 pounds and a 32 waist pant fits loosely. All of a sudden I love shopping for clothes again. And swimming? I look forward to it. Best of all, I also FEEL terrific. I never noticed how winded going up a couple of flights of stairs made me until it stopped happening. Fitness and nutrition are now an effortless part of my lifestyle and I feel healthier and happier than ever.

From my first day of starting my workout program, I was introduced to the(owner) Dimitri Giankoulas and my personal trainer Frank Jorge.

Here is a trainer that is an excellent, motivating person as well as becoming a great friend.  His methods of training are impeccable with sculpting the body to my desire.  Whatever your goals are with living a healthy life, you definitely can achieve them here at Pure Motivation Fitness.

My personal experience here has been great with Frank.  He knew exactly what I wanted to achieve, and got me there.  Not only does he push you to get that extra repetition in, he also educated you on the “how’s” and “why’s” of proper form and preventing injuries.

This is something very important to Frank as well as me, and that is why having him on my side to coach me through our workouts is a great asset.  Don’t get me started on his post-workout stretches.  You come out feeling as limber as a cat.  It’s just a great feeling.

Over the last few years, being busy with the two kids, my job and a crazy schedule I found myself gaining unwanted weight.  I had no time for myself! I’ve tried everything, diets, fitness clubs , exercises on my own but nothing helped.

In Jan 09 I went for a vacation with my husband and some friends, I’ve never felt so bad about myself.  I had to cover my body all the time!  On top of that I  felt both embarassed and uncomfortable about the way I looked.  After coming back from vacation I decided to finally do something about my weight gain.  I needed the change, and that’s when I signed up at PMF!
After a consultation with Joanna, she was very friendly, professional and understanding, I knew that this would be a success.  Almost  4 months after my group training sessions I’ve lost 20 pounds, dropped 7% body fat, I’ve learned how to eat right and  my confidence went up!

Colleagues, friends and family started to comment on my amazing weight loss. This is the best investment in myself ,that I’ve ever made.

I started at Pure Motivation Fitness as an overweight beer and wings three times a week kind of guy.  Knowing how to eat well was non-existent. It also didn’t help being in a trade with a lot of out of town work and overnights where take-out becomes your best friend.

I’ve joined a handful of gyms in the past in hopes of losing my beer belly and the extra weight I put on from college.  But not one of those gyms has actually showed interest in me or my goals; just saw me as a monthly payment.  Then my brother told me about PMF!

When I walked in to talk to Dimitri about a membership it really surprised me that he actually wanted to know my goals and made a meal plan specifically for me!  What I really enjoy about PMF is what a great atmosphere it has, all the trainers are there to help to you and everyone knows your name.
Since I’ve been working out at PMF and working with Joanna I have lost 16 pounds, lost inches off my waist and it has forced me to buy new pants and punching more holes in my belt.  Surprisingly, a female can actually kick my ass!
Since starting, I have had more energy throughout the day, learned to pack a proper lunch for myself and if I need to eat out I pick the right choices.
It is also a great feeling to hear friends, family and colleagues who make fun of my beer gut to say I am looking great and please don’t ever go back to the way you were before.

“Me Time” – Yes it was finally time to make a major change in my life.  I felt extremely “out of shape”, tired and old and never had any clue what I was going to accomplish in the 4 months with Pure Motivation Fitness.

With the fantastic guidance, motivation and constant follow up from our personal trainer Kyle, the experience and nutritional coaching from Dimitri (the owner) and of course my own personal determination, I was able to lose 35lbs and  11% body fat and 9.5 inches off my what used to be chubby waist.

This experience has totally changed my life – and when I am not at the gym – shopping has a whole new meaning!

Dieting and exercising is not easy.  The two go hand in hand.  Kyle and Dimitri taught me the importance of not only eating well but when to eat what types of foods.

I never knew that “snacking” and the “right” snack was just as important as the ‘right meal.  I also learned that I can have very healthy meals in restaurants – all you have to do is ask and so I do.

Exercising was never one of my strengths but with the help of the Pure Motivation Training Team I gained the knowledge to not only tone my body but also to make it work, burning calories, even when I was not “working out” –

I had lost considerable amount of weight prior to coming to Pure Motivation Fitness but it quickly came back on as the methods and diets that I had used were not as realistic or able to maintain as lifestyle habits.

Can you believe I actually gained 10lbs of true muscle on their fitness and nutrition program?  At my age most guys would be hesitant to start a program that involved 3-4 days of exercise per week but now it’s so easy that my wife and I train 5-6 times a week now!!!

When I started at Pure Motivation Fitness on February 6, 2010, it was the first time I stepped foot into a gym in over 2 years. After suffering a leg injury and eating unhealthy foods I ballooned, I was constantly tired and out of breath.

Shortly after joining PMF I sat down with Dimitri and Michael (my soon to be trainer), and we came up with a healthy, yet not food deprived diet and a workout schedule that would suit my needs and get me back to feeling good.

Michael was incredible with his motivation and constant attention to me performing each exercise properly and effectively. With Dimitri and Michael going above my expectations of what a trainer was suppose to do they would always be checking in with me to see how I was doing and feeling (even on my non training days).

Shortly after my one on one training with Michael I transitioned into something I had never done before. group classes. Steve’s classes worked best for my schedule and since May I have been doing Steve’s classes 2-3 times a week. Steve is also an incredible motivator and makes sure everyone in the class is giving 110% the entire 60 minutes. Thank you Dimitri, Michael and Steve for helping me get back into shape (maintaining it also) and getting back to enjoying life.
